Empowering Future Leaders: The Success of Klein ISD Girls in STEM

In order to create a more inclusive environment for young women, it is important to understand the gender gap in STEM fields. The Klein ISD Girls in STEM program empowers young women and encourages them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. The program provides an opportunity for girls to explore these fields through hands-on activities and mentoring by female professionals.

History and Goals of the Program

Klein ISD Girls in STEM is a program that was created to encourage young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It also aims to help them develop their leadership skills.

The program began in 2015 when Dr. Elizabeth Bowers took over as superintendent of Klein ISD. She wanted to ensure that all students were supported equally regardless of gender or race by providing them with opportunities for success. As part of this effort, she launched the Girls in STEM initiative with support from local businesses like ExxonMobil Chemical Company and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company–two companies known for their commitment to diversity among employees and community members alike.

This initiative aims to increase interest among girls and inspire them by offering mentorship opportunities with successful female leaders who work within these industries themselves!

Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in STEM

In order to create a more inclusive environment for young women, it is important to understand the gender gap in STEM fields. According to the National Science Foundation (NSF), women comprise only 28% of all U.S.-based researchers and engineers. This lack of representation can be attributed to several factors, including stereotypes about what it means to be successful or hardworking in STEM fields; social pressures on girls from an early age; lack of role models; gender bias within academia, and much more!

While there are many programs aimed at encouraging girls’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), none have been as successful as Klein ISD Girls in STEM. This organization aims “to empower girls through hands-on experiences with technology.”
